JESUS 1

Good question. Especially with the smorgasboard of "religious choices" in this world. What is it that makes this Jesus so special, and why does so much controversy come about at the mere mentioning of His name? in a nutshell - Jesus IS God. He's not just a "representation of what God might be like." Jesus Christ IS God come in the flesh! He's not just a "moral teacher or a prophet." Jesus IS God Almighty! This is why the world hates Him and His followers. There is One True Living God, YHWH (Jehovah). This God, the best way He can be described, exists in 3 persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This whole "3 person" Trinity thing is a mystery to man. God is a supernatural spirit being, and man is limited to 3-dimensional time and space. Anyway, Jesus is the second person in the Trinity - God the Son. He clothed Himself in a human body, and dwelt among us some 2000 years ago. He took on our 3-dimensional human limitations (all the while maintaining His divinity) and demonstrated to us in ways we could understand what God was all about. He demonstrated God's love for us, and taught us about His kingdom. But He came for another reason. RECONCILIATION You see, man has a sin problem. And it's a problem which has plagued mankind since Adam and Eve bit into the forbidden fruit (for more info read Genesis chapters 1-3). It's because of this sin, man's disobediance and rebellion against God, that there's this separation between God and mankind. Since God is pure and holy He cannot allow stained sinful man into His Presence. And no matter how hard man tries on his own, he cannot cleanse himself, he cannot wash himself with stained dirty hands to the point of pure holiness. And although man's efforts to do so may appear "good enough" to the rest of mankind, keep in mind that man's eyes are also tainted by sin thus creating blurred vision. ONLY God Himself can see our sins clearly, so no matter how good we might think we are at washing our sins or covering them up, God sees all. God loves us. And it's because of this love that HE PROVIDED THE WAY TO WASH AWAY OUR SINS!
Enter God the Son, Jesus Christ, to the rescue. Jesus is the way! In the Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 6...
How did Jesus provide the way? SUBSTITUTION God placed a physical and spiritual death penalty on sin. All mankind born in sin is born spiritually dead. To physically die in this state (of spiritual death) would result in being eternally separated from God in a place called hell. All those who die in their sinful state will suffer the wrath of God. Because God is just, and He cannot allow sin of any kind to go unpunished, His just punishment must be dealt and the guilty party must suffer this wrath. In one single event, God the Son, Jesus Christ, volunteered to take the punishment for the sins of those God foreknew (foreloved - the elect) in the world. Jesus who IS God, was pure and holy in every way and without sin, stain, or blemish, received our punishment on the cross at Calvary. After suffering a brutal beating and then being nailed to a cross, darkness covered the earth and Jesus paid the price for our sins. The sins of the elect were placed upon the Son and the Father rained down His wrath upon Him. Sin has a death penalty. And Jesus took OUR place on the cross. ETERNAL LIFE But it doesn't end there. After death was life! On the 3rd day, Jesus rose from the grave to prove once and for all that He was who He said He was... GOD! And also to show mankind the promise of eternal life and resurrection after physical death. Jesus commissioned His disciples to preach the Good News of the kingdom of God and the gift of eternal life to all who "have ears to hear." All whom the Father has given to the Son receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They are given the gift of the Holy Spirit who transforms them from a state of spiritual death to spiritual life (spiritually reborn or "born again") and are sanctified (set apart, made holy) by God. LISTEN CAREFULLY... all who reject Jesus as Lord and Savior will NOT experience this spiritual rebirth, will die in their sin, and will suffer eternal torment in hell.
PLEASE CONSIDER WHAT YOU HAVE READ HERE. Is the Spirit of God speaking to your heart today? If so... Repent and believe on the Lord.
Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would've given you living water." John 4:10 "To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life." Revelation 21:6b |
